Ashfield’s Jason Zadrozny- Falldown

A Liberal Democrat candidate, Ashfield’s Jason Zadrozny has been suspended after being arrested on allegations of child sexual abuse, which has left the party’s efforts to win a key target seat in tatters. The allegations against the candidate date back to when the candidate was a child.
The act of engaging in sexual activity with a minor falls under the category of child sexual abuse, which is a subtype of child abuse. Under no circumstances can a child give their consent to any kind of sexual activity. When an offender interacts with a child in this manner, they are committing a crime that has the potential to have long-term repercussions for the victim of the crime.
The act of sexually abusing a child does not necessarily require there to be physical contact between the offender and the victim. The following are examples of child sexual abuse, though this list is not exhaustive:
- Exhibitionism, also known as sexual activity with a minor,
- Fondling/Intercourse
- To engage in masturbation while a minor is present or to coerce a minor to engage in masturbation is illegal.
- Conversations, phone calls, text messages, or other forms of digital interaction that are sexually explicit
- Producing, owning, or sharing pornographic images or movies of children Producing, owning, or sharing pornographic images or movies of children
- Having any type of sexual contact with a minor, including oral, vaginal, or anal trafficking in sex
- Having any other type of sexual contact that involves a minor Any other contact of a sexual nature that involves a minor
In accordance with the findings of one study out of six, “[Child] sexual abuse is the result of abusive behaviour that takes advantage of a child’s vulnerability and is in no way related to the sexual orientation of the abusive person.” [Citation needed]
Abusers can use a variety of strategies to coerce their victims into maintaining silence about the sexual abuse they have suffered at their hands. Most of the time, an abuser will use the power they have over the victim to intimidate or coerce the child into doing what the abuser wants.
They might reassure the child that the behaviour is typical or express to them how much fun it was for them to participate in the activity. If the child refuses to participate or plans to tell another adult about the abuse, the abuser may resort to threatening behaviour. Abuse of a child’s sexuality is not only a violation of the child’s body, but also a violation of the child’s trust and/or authority.
In the county of Nottinghamshire, the Ashfield and Eastwood constituency is currently held by the Labour front-bencher Gloria de Piero. Jason Zadrozny was running for election there.
She defeated him to win the seat with a razor-thin majority of 192, and Nick Clegg’s party had their eyes on it as one of the few gains they hope to make in 2015.
In spite of the fact that Ashfield was not on the political radars of many people, the party’s chances of winning the seat were actually higher than in Brent Central, the other high-profile seat where a Liberal Democrat candidate, Ibrahim Taguri, has had to step down due to health reasons.
In both instances, they have vehemently refuted the accusations that they broke the law that were brought against them. I have high hopes that the investigation will be conducted by the police, and that they will come to a conclusion much more quickly than they have in far too many other recent cases involving politicians. Even though investigations have to be exhaustive, drawn-out legal processes that move at a snail’s pace benefit no one.
